Just a quick update that we’re not lost or anything. We’re in Key West (or should I say Paradise for the travelers?). We had a LOT of fun yesterday and I’m going to post a story with photos and videos in a little while and now we need to pack our things and drive home. Unfortunately good things (like vacation) don’t last forever…

p.s. Don’t forget to check out our photo gallery

Another video report covering trip to Miami Beach and South Beach.

And make sure to watch it to the end, there’s a bonus clip that I didn’t delete on purpose!

My Wife has just brought me a pack of beer while I was writing a previous post. Finally, I can relax and play with alcohol a little bit :-D This is a reward for being a good driver. By the way, this is what our route looks so far:

Looking at the oceanAfter having rest at the hotel, we went to South Beach — a famous place in Miami Beach. Before going there, we only knew that there were tons of different cafes, restaurants and clubs there. Well, we confirm, that’s true!

We parked our car at the meter, I paid for 4 hours (maximum allowed time. 1 hour — $1) and we went to the beach. And although, nobody was swimming, the water in the ocean was very warm (I was really surprised by how warm it was) so we took off our shoes and continued walking along the ocean and chatting during an hour or so.Darya enjoying ocean view

There, I came up with the crazy idea (which I think is kinda cool, but Darya doesn’t support me here). She asked me about estimated time to get to New York from Key West by walk. I said: «Hm, let’s do the math here… When you’re walking, your average speed is about 3 mph. The distance from Key West to New York is about 1500 mi. It means that making 30 miles a day, it will take you 50 days to get to New York. But it’s tough: this is assuming that you make 30 mi a day everyday, no matter what. What kind of physical abilities and training do you need to have to actually do it?». And then I though: «Hm, that might be a nice adventure!». And my mind was developing and developing until I got absolutely obsessed with this idea. I though that 50 days may be too little for an adventure like this. But if you have 3 full months (June-September) it might work. I’m not 100% sure, but I think that I’ll do it one day. This is already on my Adventures list :-D

After the night walk on the beach we went to Ocean Dr — the place where all the party is going on. The atmosphere reminded me Arcadia in Odessa. I even forgot that I was in US. Truth to be told, I though that I trapped to Mexico or Spain somehow ;) South beach is a really cool place for young people — music is everywhere; nicely dressed people are hanging out and having fun. The atmosphere is pretty friendly. And everything is illuminated!

South Beach at Night

After walking around for a little while, I saw the nice pair of running shoes of my favorite brand — Puma. This time I couldn’t pass by! I was trying to find something like those in New York but couldn’t find what I would like. This time I was lucky: seller turned out to be a friendly guy and showed me pretty much what I might like. I liked two pairs of shoes (different colors and style). I was about to buy them, but just imagine what the price margin is on the South Beach (90-100%? Easy!). So of course, I had to get some discount ;) After arguing with the guy, he was happy to give me 20% discount (and he told me that I had almost driven him crazy — nicely done :)

We had about 1.5-2 hours more before parking expiration and we decided to make a little break and go to the restaurant. I can’t recall the name right now, but it was a nice restaurant with friendly waitresses (with hot Spanish accent! Oh, I loved it!). I ordered Coconut Mojito and New York steak with Royal Shrimps and Darya got some fancy shrimps (I won’t even try to recall that exotic name :) and Margarita cocktail. There was a live band playing so I had lots of fun listening to their music.

After we finished with food and drinks, it was about time to go to the hotel (parking expired and we got tired).

We came to the hotel at about 12:30 am, and remembering that it was my dad’s birthday we decided not to wait and to be the first to call (remember about 7 hours difference). I went like: «Daddy, we’re just back from South Beach and there are crowds of people celebrating something; when I came up to find out what’s up they reminded me that you had a birthday and that’s why they were celebrating this event, so I’m calling». He sounded pretty happy! I know that he would do something like that to me :) Dad, we love you so MUCH! I know you’re reading this, so happy birthday again!

…And then we went to bed. We had an ocean view suite so I opened the door to the balcony and we were sleeping with sounds of the wash. The air was so fresh that I’ve fallen asleep in no time.

After projected 3.5 hours, we’re in Miami. It turns out that while we were driving some huge blackout happened from Miami to Jacksonville. Daniel has called my cell phone to tell me about this (so thanks to him, we were prepared: I filled the car with full tank of gas and got some cash from the ATM machine just in case). Fortunately, by the time we arrived to the hotel, everything was restored. But anyway, I think that it’s better to be prepared for the worst than beg for luck ;)

The hotel itself is very nice, we got an ocean view suite which looks very cool! We’re shooting photos and videos so you’ll see it soon. For now, we’re planning to have a dinner and then go to hang out at South Beach.

Позади остается Disney World и Sea World, где мы замечательно провели время. — оно уходит в Disney World и Sea World!

Ok, so our staying in Orlando was fun, but now we’re heading to Miami, FL to hang out at South Beach. I took the shower, planned the route, now I’m about to drink a cup of coffee, checkout at the hotel and take off.

Here’s what our route will look like:

I think that it will take us about 3.5 hours to get there, but we’ll see.

Looking at our route that we made so far, these three hours sound like a joke :)

It’s becoming a good tradition, I’ve just finished working on another video. I pretty much leave everything «as is», so you can feel like you’re there!

Enjoy!

Sea World Adventure Parks

So, another day is over. We devoted this day to «Sea World» park. We’re having luck with weather lately: it was sunny and warm today. Things that I liked most are dolphins, aquarium with sharks and the floor made of glass with fishes swimming under it. The roller coaster was fun too. Although, it was nothing like «Kinda Ka» in Six Flags, NJ ;)

Anyway, it was another day full of fun. It’s a good thing that we’re going to Miami tomorrow: I’m getting a little bored with parks at this point. I can’t understand how people buy passes for 10 and more days and still have fun all the time :) We prepared lots and lots of video material, so I’m gonna be editing it and uploading soon. Stay tuned!

Feel like a cowboy

Oh yeah, I almost forgot! I bought a nice cowboy-style hat. It made me feel just like a cowboy!

Bunya

Like I said, we were shooting some videos all day long, so I came up with another movie of the day :)

Part 1:

Part 2:

Hope that you guys will like it! Watch the fireworks part somewhere in the middle, at least. I think, it’s awesome!

Well, here one of my dream has also come true today. I’ve been in Disney World. Oh, that was amazing! It was like in fairy tales.
Unfortunately, we didn’t see all the parks in Disney. There are lots of them, but we didn’t have enough time :(

So, we’ve spent the whole day at Epcot park. The fist attraction we attended was «Spaceship Earth». That was pretty nice and unusual. (To tell the truth, everything is unusual in Disney). There, in a Time Machine, we have made travel from the Glacial age to Nowadays.

Then, by Daniel’s recommendation (thanks, Daniel!) we went to attraction called «Honey, I shrunk the Audience» (It’s 3-D adventure film). Oh, my God, we had a lot of fun!!!

We also went to «Test Track» (by the way it’s the longest and fastest attraction in Disney history — so says the brochure we were given at the counter).

The last one is called «Soaring». Awesome and amazing flying adventure! I’ve never seen stuff like that. Once again A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!! :)

Of course, we couldn’t miss nighttime fireworks show: «IllumiNations: Reflection of Earth». Guys, that was really gorgeous!!! I’m speechless!

Then, being a little bit tired, but still happy, we went to our hotel.

The day was great and we had a lot of fun! Disney really rocks!!! ;)

So, another day is almost over. We woke up around 9 am and ate breakfast. I looked up Disney World’s address in Google Maps and we were ready to go. First of all, we went to the car wash because I wanted to clean all salt from the car. The wash itself was fun because it was an automated facility: for some reason me and Darya love to sit in the car and watch the process :)

Finding Disneyland was easy. We live very close to all parks so it took no more than 10-15 minutes to get there. And as Daniel told me before — traveling in US is a pure pleasure: signs are everywhere so it’s hard to get lost and everything is made for people’s convenience, really. The scale of the park is amazing! I think that it’s more correct to call Disneyland a town with it’s own infrastructure — there are highways, hotels, huge parking lots and stuff like that.

Parking cost us $11 for all day. We thought it would be more than that. The parking lot itself is humongous! Oh yeah, have I mentioned that Darya was all fired up when she saw us approaching to the park? She almost went nuts and I didn’t know how to calm her down :-D No, that’s not true, just kidding. But she was excited, she really was! And I loved looking at her at that moment. She just turned into the kid: emotions and mimics were so natural :) Another dream came true…

We proceeded to the counter to buy the tickets. Tickets were around $150 for 1 day. Unfortunately, I wasn’t smart enough to buy multi-parks tickets so we could visit several parks in one day. We assumed that we could with our tickets, but that wasn’t the case…

Most of Attractions were awesome! I especially loved «Soaring», «Honey, I shrunk the audience» and «Test Track». At some point I became a little bored, especially when we took the boat ride. I wanted more action all the time (some roller coasters, eh?). But I’m glad that we stayed until closing because the fireworks show was spectacular!

I’m going to edit and upload another video, so stay tuned, folks!

So, we finally made it! We arrived to Orlando and already checked in at hotel. The suite is pretty nice and spacious so we’re happy.

Yesterday I complained about freezing cold weather. Well, today it’s pretty much opposite — you can’t survive without air conditioner! :) Fortunately, we have one in the car and in hotel room.

Few words about the trip itself: damn, it’s a lot of driving! We leaved at 5:30 pm and I was driving through the night until 5 am. Then I took three hours break at South Carolina and we continued driving at 8 am. The road conditions were tough: it was drizzling and there was a thick fog most of the time.

Driving, lots of driving

Thanks to people’s advices, I didn’t get a speeding ticket in Virginia although I had many chances to :) Cops are everywhere! I suspect that even the waitress at Danny’s was an undercover and expected that I would drink ;) Otherwise the trip was fun — lots of cool looking panoramas and places! We’re especially impressed with Florida — amazingly beautiful state! We made many videos which I’m going to edit and upload later on. So keep watching for updates!

By the way, I’m really impressed with my iPod’s battery. Even though it was only half way charged, the music was playing non stop and it still has some charge to it! We played about 300 songs. It helped me stay awake. The trip with stops and rest took 23 hours.

Tomorrow we’re going to Seaworld amusement park. More to come tomorrow…

Our thrilling trip to Florida begins today. There are so many places we want to visit and so many things we want to see. I’m sure, that the trip will be amazing! :)

It’s finally a real winter in Connecticut today with snow and frost; but the soul requires summer and warmth.

So, the main thing here is that we’re going to Florida by car!!! Yeah, maybe this sounds a little bit crazy,  but this is what we are about :)

The most exciting thing about this trip for me is that we’re going to Disneyland!!! Yahoooooo!!! This is my dream and pretty soon it will come true!!

So, let the adventures begin! :-D

Just as much as I’m excited about this new blog, I’m excited about going on vacation.

Well, first of all it was always my dream to go to some tropical paradise. And given the fact that it was snowing all day long today and I’m trembling with cold, the most logical place to make the trip to is of course Florida! :-D

Speaking about dreams… Darya was also dreaming to go to Disneyland. Well, I’m convinced that dreams have to come true and it’s so cool that it works for both of us at the same time!

Oh yeah, I didn’t mention that we decided to travel by car (I know some of you will say that we’re crazy. Yes, we ARE! :) I’m a big traveler so I always wanted to travel across the states by car.

Connecticut - driveway

I’m a little worried about the trip because the distance to Orlando is about 1200 miles from the place where we live and I’ve never driven that far before! But I really hope that my altima will be a good baby and will take us safely to the first point of our trip — Orlando, FL.

We’re also planning to spend some time in Miami (south beach area) and Key West. I really hope that the water will be warm so I can swim a little bit with white sharks :)

Anyways, we’ll keep you updated about what’s going on. It’s about time to leave, so I’m going to review my checklist of things before the trip… And we’re ready to take off!

p.s. If we successfully make it to Florida, we’re pretty much going to cover all the East Coast (we’ve been skiing in Vermont one week ago). Doesn’t it sound awesome!?

My home office

I’m excited to announce that we have just started the new blog where we’ll try to post all the recent events, news, cool stuff that happens in our lives. This is our second try, but this time I’m really inspired by Rubinary Blog. We’re running WordPress platform (which I was recommended by my friend and a co-worker Daniel). And although I’ve only been playing with it during 10 minutes, I’m already with love with it’s simplicity (really straightforward installation) and fancy features and look.

Please, feel free to post your comments — it will keep us really motivated to keep this blog up to date!
