So it’s finally time for a little break from work here in Ukraine. People celebrate Orthodox Easter and then May 1-2 (Labor Days). It’s usually a big time for picnics and barbeque’s, but… The weather this year is messed up: it’s raining all day long and it’s not gonna stop until the end of the week. Well, I’m not really upset about it as I have a lot of things to do.

I already had 3 trainings in Thai-boxing and so far I enjoyed them a lot! Working with the personal coach is so very different from working in the group of people. Every training is a challenge and I get literally exhausted.
I’m trying to incorporate a healthy sport diet into my system. My goal is to gain 18-20 pounds of weight until November (in muscles, not fat) :) I can feel that right now I’m in a bad shape comparing to the good times when I was in the high school. My stamina was way higher. And this is very frustrating… But I’m working hard to achieve what I previously had (at least).

I ordered a voltage transformer (220->120 volts) for my amp and it should be ready by Tuesday. So hopefully, I’ll be able to play my lovely guitars soon. As to playing in a band, I’m trying to organize everyone and get started on musical project I have mentioned before. It’s just, everybody seems to be too overwhelmed with the jobs.

Tomorrow is going to be exactly one month since we came from the US. I have a strange feeling as if I never left Ukraine, but at the same time, I really miss everyone and everything over there…

It’s been two weeks since we arrived to Odessa. And I still don’t feel like I got used to the time difference. Weird, because I didn’t experience this problem on my previous trip to Odessa. I go to bed late and wake up late. Finally, days are messed up and it makes me feel bad. I decided to break this situation…

It’s time to start working on my goals:

Sport

For a long time now I wanted to hire a personal thai-boxing coach. Said is done. I have already arranged about the first training with Max Neledva (IFMA World Championship Finalist, IFMA European Champion, IFMA World Champion,
K-1 Fighting Network 2007 Champion). I think that it’s a huge luck that Max agreed to coach me and I’m extremely excited about that!
I already have all the required equipment and I already prepared for the first training tomorrow.

Also I need to fix my bike and prepare it for at least weekly 60 mi trips. This is a great way to spend time with friends, travel and improve the stamina.

Music

I need to gather a band and start playing concerts in local clubs at least 2 times a month. I already have preliminary arrangements with my buddies who I used to play with before. So, we need to get together and decide about rehearsal schedule, track list. We’re going to play covers:
Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Nazareth, Rainbow, Dio, Scorpions, Whitesnake, Queen… and something from modern rock like: Muse, Fixer (my personal favorites from New York City), etc.

Travel, places to see:

  • Kiev
  • Kharkov
  • Lviv
  • Donetsk
  • Crimea
  • Dnepropetrovsk
  • Ivano-Frankovsk

We’ll probably go to Kiev soon…

Remember that song by «Queen»? Well, it’s been a while since I posted anything here. But that doesn’t mean that this blog is dead as you might have though. It only means that relocation to the new place, meeting with friends and drinking beer with them takes lots of time and energy. :)

Yeah, we are in Odessa. But I’m not really excited about this fact… Quite frankly, if not my friends and the new job with 3 projects that I’m starting up simultaneously, I would die of boredom. I think I’m even depressed at this point. But that was somewhat anticipated. I’m surprised myself but it turns out that my views on life have changed dramatically and I don’t really feel like I’m at home anymore. Almost everything seems strange.

Well, there’s something positive here too. Yesterday me and a group of people called «friends» went to the local brewery. The idea was that everybody would take laptop and we would play the «Quake» deathmatch. It turned out to be so much fun! I wanna do it again! I think it looked pretty weird from the outside — imagine yourself — you come to the restaurant and see 5 people sitting at the same table, looking at laptop screens and cursing… :)

The weather here is strange. It’s cloudy most of the time. Not cold, just cloudy. Everything is gray, dirty and depressing. Almost nobody smiles. Everybody looks serious and creepy. Nah, not my place… :-\
